Our History
The USJ-R School of Computer Studies (SCS) is dedicated to producing competent professionals in the fields of Computer Science, Information Technology, and Entertainment and Multimedia Computing. The school integrates quality instruction, research, and community service to prepare students for leadership roles in industry, government, and academia.
Through intensive, hands-on programs that emphasize real-world application, project-based learning, and innovation, SCS equips students with the skills needed to excel in today’s fast-evolving digital landscape. The school also fosters research and IT product development aimed at contributing to both the tech industry and community development.
The School of Computer Studies maintains international partnerships with institutions in Japan, Taiwan, and other countries, providing students with global exposure, cross-cultural learning experiences, and opportunities for collaborative projects and internships abroad. The school also actively participates in national competitions in programming, cybersecurity, robotics, and innovation, allowing students to showcase their skills and competencies at the highest levels.

Objectives
The following are the objectives of the program:
To equip the student with the necessary knowledge and skills in applying computing principles, tools, and technologies to design, develop, and manage effective and reliable software and information systems.
To develop the student’s ability to adapt, organize, and manage advancements in computing technology, digital tools, and emerging platforms across various industries.
To improve the student’s communication skills and strategies for effectively presenting technical solutions, documentation, and ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
To establish the student’s sense of accountability for the legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities inherent in the practice of information technology and software development.
To create the student’s awareness and observance of national and international standards, data privacy regulations, and best practices in computing and information security.
To mold the student’s positive attitude and commitment to life-long learning, continuing professional development, and innovation in the ever-evolving field of computing.
To enhance the student’s ability to conduct research and apply data-driven, evidence-based, and systematic approaches to solving computing and information technology problems.
To foster the student’s ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects and promote teamwork among developers, analysts, and other IT professionals.

Specifically, the School of Computer Studies aims to:
Provide the students with competent faculty with an insatiable desire for academic excellence, technological innovation, and personal fulfillment as exemplary role models of a professional Christian IT practitioner
Provide opportunities to students, faculty, and staff to become pastoral ministers and to serve as effective Christian change agents in the digital and technological landscape
Render extension services and strengthen the instructional programs that will support USJ-R’s and the government’s thrusts for digital literacy and community development
Mold the capability of the School to become a resource center in extending its academic and technical expertise to local, regional, and national clientele
Ensure a mutual upgrading, growth, and development of the physical and technological resources of the School for efficient academic and administrative management
Strengthen and maintain linkages with other departments of the University, industry partners, government agencies, and non-government organizations which offer services and opportunities for growth in computing and information technology
